One of my favorite weekend trips in Japan was to the monkey park outside of Nagano. The day we were there, two bands came through and ate and bathed in the hot spring. There were tons of babies and they played chase and tug of war. I sat there all day watching them. You can read more about our snow monkey experience here. 
Doesn’t this look relaxing? As the snow fell all around, this lucky Japanese macaque takes advantage of the warm waters of the hot springs to relax. One of our favorite trips ever, was to the Jigokudani Monkey Park, near Nagano in Japan. I’ve written a little more about it here. I would love to go back! Something about relaxing in a warm hot spring in the middle of winter. It just warms you throughout. You should try it! |
